The Indiana Graduate Workers Coalition - United Electrical, Radio & Machine Workers of America (IGWC-UE) are proud to receive the endorsement of the Southern Indiana Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO (SIALF, AFL-CIO).

The SIALF, ALF-CIO represents 42 counties across Southern Indiana, with affiliates across industrial unions and building trades.

In their letter, the SIALF, AFL-CIO:

  1. Calls on the IU administration and Board of Trustees to allow the Graduate Workers a fair union vote, and remain neutral throughout this process

  2. Highlights the “clear evidence of concerns about the conditions faced by Graduate Workers at IU”

  3. Underscores the IGWC-UE’s establishment of a “direct and democratically elected pathway toward resolving these issues - unionization and collective bargaining”

Their letter also emphasizes how the IGWC-UE’s unionization furthers the SIALF, AFL-CIO’s mission to “support Indiana workers as they bargain with employers to improve their living conditions and workplaces, as well as their communities, state, and nation.”

We thank the SIALF, AFL-CIO for their solidarity, and encourage everyone to read the full text of their letter below:
